Ruthless action by Govt reminds us of emergency

The first and the immediate question that came in my mind today when I saw my dear brothers and sisters of Telangana and the journalists being ruthlessly lathi charged by the police is whether we are living in a independent country or still living under some colonial rule.

It's shame to call ourselves an independent country and to say that we are a democratic country that is by the people, of the people, for the people. It has no meaning today. Leaving apart the exploitation of the constitutional rights that citizens should enjoy in terms of fighting for a cause, the way the Government is treating the protesting students of Osmania is complete inhuman first of all. If this is the way issues are resolved in an independent country and if this is the way the government treats its citizens if voilence is the only way to control movements then the conditions are no different the way they prevailed during the colonial rule and during the emergency.

The Government and congress party should first remember that this country has achieved freedom long back from colonial rule and that we are living in an independent country. The people of this country have fought the most cruel emergency that was brought by Indira gandhi and the congress party has paid the price for it. Mrs. Gandhi had no option but to face the ire of people. And am sure, the same is going to repeat now.

If this is the way Government wants to resolve the issues, then i can only say that Mrs Gandhi, Mr Chidambaram, Mr Rosaiah and Mrs. Sabitha Indira Reddy are simply fools and that they donot understand the spirit of our democracy. People have the right to fight for an issue. The moment you try to exploit their rights, then you will see valconic erruption of the anger and frustration which will lead to voilence. How the hell can you expect peace in the state when you yourself are promoting voilence by your non sense action? How the hell do you think you can ensure a good governance when you yourself set bad precedents?

It's time for the government to realise their foolishness and try to understand that they are not british and we are not Indians and that we are not under colonial rule. Else, people are going to teach them a big lesson. It doesnt matter whether we are Telanganites or Andhraites or a pakisthanis, we are all human beings. No one has the right to exploit our human rights. Its timr for everyone to unite and condemn such inhuman action of the Government and fight for justice.

Hi..
Sad to see the lathicharge by the police on the students of OU. The exact reason for the same is not clear so far. But as told in some channels that the lathicharge was orderred as the students were trying to carry out a procession into the city. The lathicharge was orrderred to contain it. Even though it is clear that the police over stepped the order.

I understand the ideals of the Telangana issue, but I fail to make sure that the current agitation is on those lines. What are the demands that are spearheading the students agitation? Is it the promise of reserved jobs to all Telangite family in the govt made by KCR? or is it truely a a fight by the educated youth for the development of farmers?

I find the movement diluted.
Boycotting Andhra made goods? Disrupting public system? Comparing this to Gandhi's Satyagraha. A total mismatch I would say. Are we forgetting that ours is a mixed economy. And these are the effects of capitalism. How relevant it would be if a kannadiga asks us to leave bangalore?

What I feel is the movement is offf track, politicised and lured by short term benefits. I would not say that each agitator is in the same lines. But it is being dominated by such ppl.

I do pray for the well being of ppl from both the regions through peaceful and constitutional measures.

But for now as per my understanding I would neither deny or glorify either the govts or the T movement.

Praveen, I am trying to make a general observation about people who oppose and talk against Telangana movement. It's not about you in person.

You simply say why dont the students fight for issues like water, jobs etc. I would say that only people who do not know history will talk like this. Hundreds of people have lost lives in fighting for 610 GO. Reservation of Telangana jobs for Telangana people was one of the important condition for the merger of Telangana and Andhra. Our beloved leader PJR fought for it inside and outside assmebly till his death. Supreme court of India ordered Govt to implement this privilege that was promised for Telanganites. But the Govt didnt even care to listen to court ruling. Such was the way in which people were denied their rights. Inspite of all these if you ask students to fight for 610, do you think they are fools? Something which was not achieved in last 50 years inspite of losing lives and facing many hardships, how do you think the students would have confidence in Govt to fight for 610GO. They tried all means for betterment of their lives and now they have no option but to agitate for a saperate state which would bring back the natives their own resources. Non cooperation is way they have resorted to after all the denials and injustice. What's wrong in that when their voice is not heard and when they betrayed time and again.

One more way in which people insult the movement is by showing KCR. Who the hell is KCR? He is just one among the crores who are fighting for justice. Telangana movement was started much before even KCR was bron. Movement reached its peaks before even KCR completed his schooling. BJP promised Telangana in 1999 much before even KCR started TRS. So, dont try to mislead people and make Telanagana an unjustified movement just by showing KCR as if Telanganites are fools to hear whatever KCR or some MCR says. They know that they are decieved and denied of their resources and thats why all sections of people, farmers, craftsman, students, lawyers, doctors, engineers, Govt employees etc are fighting. This kind of argument is made only to somehow deny that the movement is justified and to deny the justful resources that Telanaganites should get.

Its not about KCR or Damodhar Reddy or Vidhya sagar. Telanagana people are ready to support even if a dog says jai Telangana. Such is the desparation being shown by people to get back their rights. People want a leader who can fight for their cause and thats why they are supporting KCR who is right now fighting for the cause. You come and fight for us. we are ready to make you a leader. We are ready to treat you in te best possible way.

So, please donot show some illogical reasons to deny Telangana and to insult people of Telangana who have lost so much till now and who are fighting for justice.

As u said about the 610, do u think anybody knows about it. And, do you think anyone of us have been affected by this. It could have been a problem during the 1980's or 90's and now, the issue has changed entirely. Without the support of all from the state, where do you think all the 1 lakh odd jobs have been generated from the IT sector. People from all regions have invested in Hyderabad and that gave immense number of jobs. From your response above, I could just see only the unemployment problems as the only reason and I dont find the unitedness fault in it.

I agree to the point that the agriculture is facing a deterioration in the telangana region. True, the govt needs to focus on that but why the hell the state separation coming in between. Tell the Telangana people to place the issues first. Nobody speaks about them.

I am talking abt Govt jobs and not IT jobs. Even now, why Telanganites get only 14% of Govt jobs even though they constitute 45% of AP? Why our Ranga Reddy district doesnt have even a single Govt degree college when Krishna and Godavarai has more than 30 each. Why our Medak district has only 7 Govt degree colleges. Why the total river irrigated land in all Telangana districts put together is less than that of Guntur district? Why milk in Telangana is purchased at 2 Rs lesser than that of Andhra milk by dairy development corporation? Why our komuram beem is not included in history books? Why was sayudha poratam not included in history? Like this I can raise n no of questions which justify what we are fighting for and the way we are fighting.

I donot blame every Andhraite for what ever Telanaga has lost by being with Andhra. But now that people are educated and they realised the fact that they are decieved and denied, they are fighting for their resources, for their rights. Fight for Telangana doesnt mean that we are anti Andhra but it only means we are fighting for our rights and resources. I would like you to openly discuss this and not anonymously.

@BPK

i wonder how can somebody still take a neutral stand on the incidents that happened in OU campus..

well, if police are to be believed,"considering the previous incidents at lakdikapul and NIMS, it makes some sense(does it?? atleast for all those who support samaikya'andhra') that lathi charge was ordered as students tried to take a procession in the city."

but what about police entering the girls hostel, beating up and molesting them ? what about the police burning the vehicles of news reporters?

are we in a barbarian state where violence in the name of justice is considered a right thing to do?

forget telangana and samaikyandhra for a moment...how can somebody accept a police action in a women's hostel?what was the requirement of presence of more than 3000 police personnel in a university campus? and finally, why on earth are people trying to search justification for such actions?

such incidents should be strongly condemned irrespective of the location of action, be it Osmania or Andhra university.

let not our opinions on, "should the state must be divided or remain united?" stop us from voicing against an inhuman action.

JAI TELANGANA !!

Hi,
It is really disheartening to see such incidents happening to students. The first thing people say when we speak against Telangana movement is that we don't know anything about Telangana.I don't think that should be the response for good conversation. We may not be knowing everything about Telangana, But we have the same rights to speak. I don't have any vested interests in Telangana. But we do individuals have the same sentiment towards Andhra Pradesh. What is the status of Telangana 15 years back and today. It is much better today. Also you are the rulers of your people not Andhra people.SO what is the need to blame Andhra people. Blame our dirty politicians. Also when Telangana people saw a vehicle with Andhra registration at Osmania University premises they burnt it.That time what happened to democracy of India? We are living with fear in our own mother land. What a shame for us?

@Rakesh:
IS 610 not implemented now ?
Do u want waters to pump towards upward region ?
Tell me a right which is denied to only T ppl?
Only 14 % govt job (iam not sure of this figure i think it must be from telangana.org becoz there only u get such statics) is it becoz of govt opting ppl only from andhra region??
Less colleges : So of allthose college is there any collge which is over populated ??Why is there a low turn out in using educational infra structure in T reagion compared to other regions??
What were dat crores of ppl doing before KCR ? were dey sleeping ??

Problems u said dat are facing by ppl of t region are being faced by any other region in india ..
more relevant will be problems like nalgonda water probs etc...

Also agri production is coming down not becoz of 60 years colonial rule (:)) its becoz agri in T an seema are tank water and ground water based .... blame govt for not taking adequate steps to prevent gorund water depletion ..
all problems like middle men .. handi crafts are evrywhere ..
also explain me how separation prevent dose problems...
