Price being paid by Telangana for bad politics and indecisive government

An indecisive and impotent central Government with its opportunistic stands has once again decieved the people of Telangana.

On Dec 9 2009, The Home Minister of Govt of India has made an announcement saying that they are initiating the process of Telangana. Then, after hectic lobbying by the selfish leaders of Andhra for their businesses and real estate in Hyderabad, Government in a few days then changed it's stand and made a favourable statement for United Andhra. And then after Telangana protested against the U turn by Govt, Govt called for a meeting and todays it says the shri krishna commission will look into demands of Telangana and United Andhra.

With this Govt once again with its indecisiveness and with its opportunitsic politics has betrayed Telangana. Where is the need of committe first of all? what happened to the recommendation of first SRC? The govt didn't respect the recommendation of SRC1 and whats the guarantee that they will respect Shri Krishna commission's recommendation? What happened to supreme court ruling on Mulki laws. The govt didnt even respect Supreme court ruling and what's the gaurantee that Govt will now listen to Justice Shri Krishna? What happened to Pranab Committee which was formed 7 years back? He recommended for Telangana because of which Govt announced telangana on dec 9. Why didnt the Government stick to its stand? What happened to Rosiah committee which was instituted by the then CM two years back?

Government has no intension of respecting the demands of people who are fighting for their resources and their betterment. Government has no intension of forming Telangana. Instead with its own political agenda, Goverment has decided to betray people of Telangana.

Atleast now, people have to realise that Telangana is politicised all major political parties of AP including Congress, TRS and TDP and that they shouldnt trust parties for formation of telangana. Instead only through continious protests and through non cooperation, they can win over parties and Government. Dr. Ambedkar said Democracy is all about fulfilling the aspirations of people and Goverment is the institution that will take care of protecting such democracy. The same was reiterated by our beloved ex-president of India, Abdul kalam when someone asked about Telangana in a meeting in Vijaywada. If that's the case then Government has to finally come down one day and create Telangana. If people are determined, I am sure that the day wont be very far.

Jai Telangana

Hello Rakesh..The notion that the formation of telangana state will create miracles in peoples life is not correct...The problem with our state right now is that we don`t have leaders like Nitish kumar who can honestly work for the welfare of people...so i don`t think that things will change much even if a separate state is formed. I don`t care if telangana state is formed or AP is united.
I am an Indian first and my thinking stops there.

Hi Rakesh
Good to see a post from you on this issue. People who have been saying that separate state is not the solution never care to answer these questions
1. 70% of the krishna and godavari river waters flow through Telangana and water being used by Telangana is 5% and 10% respectively?
2. People say Govt jobs and opportunities are based on competency so no region based reservations. When people don't get food two times a day, how can people send their children to schools and make them competent?
3. Andhra area has rich fertile delta land, using 75% of the states water reserves, growing two/three crops per year and growing prawns in paddy fields. Where as in Telangana if it rains and people have money in hand for seeds, fertilizers, pesticides then a crop per year may grow.

No leader or a person from Andhra area has answered the reasons behind this agitation, they just comment on the so called leaders.
I just hope this movement doesn't become one of those right cause and wrong leader movements (deprived classes - Mayawati)

@ Hey Rajesh..nice to see hear from u after a long time dude.
For points 1 and 3, i agree that telangana is not getting benefits...but why didn`t these politicians first start a movement demanding for higher percentage of water reserves for telangana. They could/should have first started a massive movement (something like this one) demanding more irrigation projects etc etc...Instead of doing this, their first objective was the formation of a separate state.

Regarding point 2, i do not agree much with your views...This situation is there in many parts of india and it is not restricted to telangana and we need to address it.

I understand that there are some genuine concerns and they should be addressed...The feeling i am having right now is that the movement may be for a right cause, but it is in the hands of wrong leaders.

Hi spreddy, yeah its been a long time. how are you?
Demand for restoration of telangana state instead of demanding for better resources is because any major project or policy should have 2/3 majority in the state assembly. Which is never going to happen as Non-Telangana areas have almost 190 MLAs of the state assembly. And demanding equal rights in irrigation water and other issues have been done previously which were turned down each and every time. I don't think people will demand again coz i don't think anyone would beg for something which is rightfully his share.

Some other issues are people of Telangana are not educated, chances of Naxals influencing in the smaller state e.t.c. Let me throw some light on these issues.

"There are more no. of Govt degree colleges in Guntur district alone than all the govt. degree colleges in Ten districts in Telangana combined. And govt is not showing any biasness in allotting funds to other areas, actually there are many govt institutions in other areas hence they have to allot money to them. When there are no colleges how can they allot money?"

All these data can be verified in Govt websites.

Nice post (the usual comment)

But am not sure if separate Telangana state is ever gonna set the things straight..
It will just make another CM and few more power houses. Like what happened in Jharkand. (a layman openion from my side)
Even the areas of srikakulam, vizayanagaram belt are backward. It dosent mean that they form *yet* another state.
If people who protest for a new state really care about it so much, they can spend that energy in the solving the right problems.
If they can influence so much to make yet another regional separation, i dont understand what stops them from doing the right things - like water projects, education and upliftlment.

Just to add to Rajesh's comments...
pick a place randomly in India and in a radius of 100 KMs you will find enuf ppl you can relate to with the 1,2,3 points you have choosen, enuf for you to spend your whole life trying to uplift them.

YES, RAKESH YOU ARE RIGHT. THE CENTRAL GOVERNMENT IS TRYING TO CHEAT THE PEOPLE OF TELENGANA. THE TERMS OF REFERNCE TO SRI KRISHNA COMMITTEE ARE NOT IN KEEPING WITH DEC 9 STATEMENT.
GOVT IS ASKING COMMITTEE TO DECIDE WETHER TO CREATE TELENGANA OR KEEP A.P. UNITED.
THE PEOPLE OF TELENGANA SHOULD TEACH LESSON TO CONGRESS, TDP AND PRP FOR THEIR DOUBLE TOUNGE POLICIES AND OPPORTUNISTIC POLITICS.

Hi Rakesh
Nice to see you blogging after a long time.
I completely agree that the Central Govt. has been very indecisive in Telangana issue. Seriously, what is the need for one more committee? Okay lets think blindly that no proper study was made whether Telangana should be given statehood or not and so the committee, then on what basis Dec 9th statement was made? If someone says it was a part of political drama, I don't think so, no politician would have anticipated such protests from people of Andhra region so that this statement can be withdrawn.
Telangana is paying price for such impotent Govt. at centre. Its high time they fulfil the demands and do justice. Delay will only make things worse.

Nice discussion. Thanks for all your comments. Thanks rehman sir. It's an honour to have your views on this blog. The three major points which are raised by almost everyone who kind of oppose Telangana are:

1. Things wouldn't change much even after Telangana is carved out. Its actually the leadership issue and because of the faulty leaders, Telangana didnt see any development. So, unless leaders are good, Telangana will never see any development whether its united or saperated.

2. Why people in Telangana unnecessarily waste their energy in fighting for saperation. Instead why dont they fight for issues like water, jobs etc. which can help improve living standards of Telanganites.

3. Vizianagaram and Srikakulam are also under developed. Its not only Telangana districts which are underdeveloped. So, saparete state de,mand for Telangana is not justified.

Let's discuss these three points thoroughly so that clarity emerges on these three major questions. I will put my views on these three soon.
